What is Four Sixes Ranch Brand Beef?

Four Sixes Ranch Brand Beef is a direct to consumer premium quality steak brand that is inspired by the values and heritage of the Four Sixes Ranch.

Four Sixes Ranch Brand Beef is processed in the United States. In order to supply our beef to shoppers across the USA, we source from all three divisions of the Four Sixes Ranch as well as other ranches within our network, which align with the grade and treatment of our animals.

What makes Four Sixes Ranch Brand Beef different from the beef I can buy in my local grocery store?

Four Sixes Ranch Brand Beef may be different from what you purchase in the local grocery store in several ways:

  • Four Sixes Ranch Brand Beef does not have any artificial flavors or ingredients added, and the beef is minimally processed.
  • Four Sixes Ranch Brand Reserve* steaks are USDA Certified Tender and the Four Sixes Ranch Brand Prime steaks are USDA Certified Very Tender. The USDA Certified Tender and Very Tender shields are process-verified programs (processverified.usda.gov) that guarantee shoppers that the products will result in a tender eating experience. The programs have been developed after years of data collection and product testing and ultimately verify that the products are meeting needs for a tender eating experience. Products that are USDA Certified Tender and Very Tender do not contain any additional ingredients, chemicals, flavors or tenderizers and may not be mechanically tenderized.

*Note: Details on individual product pages.

  • Four Sixes Ranch Brand steaks are aged for a minimum of 21 days prior to packaging. This helps provide enhanced flavor and tenderness.
  • Four Sixes Ranch Brand Prime steaks are USDA certified Prime, which is unavailable in most local grocery stores.
  • Four Sixes Ranch Brand Striploin steaks are cut from the ‘Rib Half’ of the Loin sub-primal. What this means is that the ‘Sirloin End’ is not present in our Striploin steaks. The Sirloin End is known for having higher amounts of connective tissue and, as a result, requires more trimming and knifework. Steaks from this region are called ‘Vein Steaks’ and can lead to a relatively poorer eating experience. In short, the Four Sixes Ranch Striploin steaks are cut in a way that minimizes connective tissue and gristle.

The bags are used to prevent exposure to air and maintain the moisture in the steak. During the aging process the meat tenderizes from the inside, producing steak that displays a distinctive flavor and tenderness only found when wet-aged.

What does USDA Certified Prime and Choice mean?

The USDA grade shields are highly regarded as symbols of safe, high-quality American beef. Beef is evaluated by highly-skilled USDA meat graders using a subjective characteristic assessment process and electronic instruments to measure meat attributes. These characteristics follow the official grade standards developed, maintained and interpreted by the USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service.

USDA Certified Prime beef is the highest USDA beef grade and is produced from young, well-fed beef cattle. It has abundant marbling (the amount of fat interspersed with lean meat) and is generally sold in restaurants and hotels. Because Prime graded beef has the most intramuscular fat, it is tender and juicy with a rich, beefy flavor. Prime steaks and roasts are excellent for dry-heat cooking such as broiling, roasting or grilling.

USDA Certified Choice beef is also high quality but has less marbling than Prime. Choice steaks and roasts are very tender, juicy, and flavorful.

What does USDA Certified Very Tender and Tender mean?

The USDA Certified Very Tender and Tender shields are USDA process-verified programs (processverified.usda.gov) that guarantee a tender eating experience. Ongoing testing ensures that our shoppers receive the best eating experience. This testing is used to verify the force required to shear through a sample, mirroring the action of chewing through a steak. These measurements allow us to verify that a steak is tender and accomplished without using chemicals, marinades, or mechanical tenderization.

Products that are USDA Certified Very Tender or Tender do not contain any additional ingredients, chemicals, flavors, or tenderizers and may not be mechanically tenderized. Four Sixes Ranch Brand beef is the only place to buy Certified Very Tender or Tender online.

Key Features of USDA Certified Very Tender and Tender Beef:

Tenderness Assurance: The Certified Tender designation indicates beef cuts have met stringent criteria for tenderness. USDA Certified Very Tender and Tender grades ensure a consistently tender and enjoyable eating experience.

Quality Grading Standards: The USDA employs a comprehensive grading system that evaluates beef based on factors such as marbling, texture, and flavor.

Choose our Certified Very Tender and Tender beef for a dining experience that guarantees tenderness, succulence, and unparalleled quality. Elevate your culinary endeavors with cuts that meet the highest standards of excellence, available exclusively on our website.
