Four Sixes Ranch is part of the famous Burnett Ranches LLC, which is among the most storied family-run businesses in Texas history. Four Sixes Ranch Brand Beef may be different from what you purchase in the local grocery store in several ways:

  • Four Sixes Ranch Brand Beef does not have any artificial flavors or ingredients added, and the beef is minimally processed.
  • Four Sixes Ranch Brand Reserve* steaks are USDA Certified Tender and the Four Sixes Ranch Brand Prime steaks are USDA Certified Very Tender. The USDA Certified Tender and Very Tender shields are process-verified programs (processverified.usda.gov) that guarantee shoppers that the products will result in a tender eating experience. The programs have been developed after years of data collection and product testing and ultimately verify that the products are meeting needs for a tender eating experience. Products that are USDA Certified Tender and Very Tender do not contain any additional ingredients, chemicals, flavors or tenderizers and may not be mechanically tenderized.
*Note: Details on individual product pages.
  • Four Sixes Ranch Brand steaks are aged for a minimum of 21 days prior to packaging. This helps provide enhanced flavor and tenderness.
  • Four Sixes Ranch Brand Prime steaks are USDA certified Prime, which is unavailable in most local grocery stores.
  • Four Sixes Ranch Brand Striploin steaks are cut from the ‘Rib Half’ of the Loin sub-primal. What this means is that the ‘Sirloin End’ is not present in our Striploin steaks. The Sirloin End is known for having higher amounts of connective tissue and, as a result, requires more trimming and knifework. Steaks from this region are called ‘Vein Steaks’ and can lead to a relatively poorer eating experience. In short, the Four Sixes Ranch Striploin steaks are cut in a way that minimizes connective tissue and gristle.

BEEF FACTS

What does USDA Choice and USDA Prime mean?

The USDA grade shields are highly regarded as symbols of safe, high-quality American beef. Beef is evaluated by highly-skilled USDA meat graders using a subjective characteristic assessment process and electronic instruments to measure meat attributes. These characteristics follow the official grade standards developed, maintained and interpreted by the USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service.

USDA Choice beef is high quality but has less marbling than Prime. Choice roasts and steaks from the loin and rib will be very tender, juicy, and flavorful.

USDA Prime beef is the highest USDA beef grade and is produced from young, well-fed beef cattle. It has abundant marbling (the amount of fat interspersed with lean meat) and is generally sold in restaurants and hotels. Because Prime beef has the most intramuscular fat, it is tender and juicy with a rich, beefy flavor. Prime roasts and steaks are excellent for dry-heat cooking such as broiling, roasting or grilling.

What does USDA Certified Tender and USDA Certified Very Tender mean?

The USDA Certified Tender and USDA Certified Very Tender shields are process-verified programs (processverified.usda.gov) that guarantee a tender eating experience. Ongoing testing ensures that our shoppers receive the best eating experience. This testing is used to verify the force required to shear through a sample, mirroring the action of chewing through a steak. These measurements allow us to verify that a steak is tender and accomplished without using chemicals, marinades, or mechanical tenderization.

Products that are USDA Certified Tender or USDA Certified Very Tender do not contain any additional ingredients, chemicals, flavors, or tenderizers and may not be mechanically tenderized. Four Sixes Ranch Brand beef is the only place to buy Certified Tender or Very Tender online.

Key Features of USDA Certified Tender and Very Tender Beef:

Tenderness Assurance: The Certified Tender designation indicates beef cuts that have met stringent criteria for tenderness. USDA Certified Tender and Very Tender grades ensure a consistently tender and enjoyable eating experience.

Quality Grading Standards: The USDA employs a comprehensive grading system that evaluates beef based on factors such as marbling, texture, and flavor.

Choose Certified Tender and Very Tender beef from Four Sixes Ranch Brand Beef for a dining experience that guarantees tenderness, succulence, and unparalleled quality. Elevate your culinary endeavors with beef cuts that meet the highest standards of excellence, available exclusively on our website.

What is a striploin steak?

A striploin steak is also called a New York strip or simply a strip steak. This steak comes from the short loin of the beef cattle. It is cut from a muscle that does little work, the longissimus dorsi, making the meat particularly tender and juicy.

What is a ribeye steak?

A ribeye steak is a tender, juicy, and flavorful steak from the rib section of the beef cattle. Fast cooking methods using high heat produce the most delectable results.

What is a tenderloin steak?

A tenderloin steak, also called a filet mignon, comes from the tenderest part of the cow and is therefore greatly desired for being the most tender cut of beef. Tenderloin steaks are best cooked hot and fast.

What is a top sirloin steak?

A top sirloin steak is a tender, lean and flavorful steak. A top sirloin is a cut of beef from the primal loin or subprimal sirloin. Top sirloin steaks differ from sirloin steaks in that the bone and the tenderloin and bottom round muscles have been removed.

While not as tender as a tenderloin filet, the Top Sirloin filet provides more bite with the added benefit of rich, beefy flavor. And given its leaner composition, it’s great for many different dishes—from a center of the plate steak to topping a green salad. The Top Sirloin performs well when seared on the outside and cooked to a medium-rare doneness.

Renowned for its exceptional flavor and juiciness, USDA Prime beef is a premium choice for discerning meat enthusiasts. Key Features of USDA Prime Beef:

  • The intricate distribution of fat throughout the meat enhances tenderness and succulence, creating a dining experience that is second to none.

  • This tenderness, combined with the rich marbling, results in a melt-in-your-mouth texture that elevates the dining experience.

Superior Flavor:

  • The high level of marbling not only enhances tenderness but imparts a robust and savory flavor to the beef.
  • USDA Prime beef is celebrated for its intense, well-balanced taste that satisfies even the most discerning palates.

Popular Cuts of USDA Prime Beef:

Ribeye: Known for its rich marbling and robust flavor, the Ribeye is a prime choice for steak connoisseurs.
